Donors Choose Making A Difference

21 Apr Donors Choose Making A Difference

As you know by now, here at Tim Levy & Associates we love to do purposeful things. We love to work with to support local students and schools and their teachers when they are in need. And we encourage you to do the same!

I’m always amazed that what are really, honestly, small amounts of money can make such a big difference.

Donors Choose Project / Fitness for All to Hear

Recently we ran into a project called ‘Fitness For All To Hear’, which was based at a school in California. Mrs Pickard, was reaching out to find some resources for a physical education class. She needed a speaker system, some basketballs and really basic things, but the public school system was not able to support her. By the time we showed up, half of the donation required had already been given by ESPN, the sports network, so we were able to participate and close that last gap. We helped her with a bunch of basket balls, a portable speaker system, a big bag to hold all the balls and a wireless microphone system to communicate with as well.

The thing that I enjoy about is how quickly we get to connect with each other as Mrs Pickard immediately sent me the following email.

Making A Difference, Getting Involved

Then a short time later, after we had sent the money and they had a chance to actually purchase the basket balls and get all that equipment, Mrs Pickard was kind enough to send us some photos of all that equipment in action and it really felt like we were making a difference in some specific lives with some specific kids in a position of need. So again I would love to encourage everybody to get in touch with We like to support it here at Tim Levy & Associates and it’s one of our ways of expressing our purpose in the world and doing some little thing to contribute to the local community.

Here’s what she wrote –

First I want to say thank you so very much for such a generous and wonderful donation. My students absolutely love the items, basketballs and music/ speaker system, they received.

The speaker system has come to be an important part of my teaching during kindergarten class. At a given time, there may be at least 175 students out on the playground while I’m trying to teach, easily distracted, kindergarteners. The sound system has allowed my student to hear my instruction and they are able to complete activities and games with much more understanding and clarity. Not only does this speaker help with class directions, it provides music during class activities and recess. The student are much more engaged with the activities when they have upbeat and energetic music to move along with. During “fun Fridays”, I also play music during lunch and recess. The students love to dance and sing while they are relaxing at lunch and playing during recess.

As for the basketballs, having 12 balls, 1 per every 2 students, has been amazing. This allows for all students to be active and engaged in activities, drills, or games. It is so important for all students to be moving and participating during class and by having all these balls, students love to show off their skills or be leaders to those that may need a little more help.

I truly am so thankful for these wonderful gifts! It has made teaching physical education that much easier because students can hear my instruction and be engaged in all activities!

It’s a good feeling, right?!
